Ministry of Antiquities Project Head
Mohamed Abdel-Badie began his career as an inspector in Fayum, and later in Abu Rawash, Saqqara and Giza. He worked in the Minister’s Office, and was also the supervisor of the Permanent Committee and then its manager. He is currently the Director of Central Administration for Upper Egyptian Antiquities. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 1992 from Cairo University and a diploma in Predynastic studies in 2005 from the same university. He has supervised several archaeological fieldschools in Giza and el-Mataryia, as well as supervising the restoration of Qasr Qarun in the Fayum. محمد عبد البديع تقلد عدة مناصب بدأها بمفتش اثار بالفيوم، ابو رواش، سقاره ثم مفتش اثار بالهرم ثم عمل بالمكتب الفني لوزير الاثار ثم مشرفا للجنه الدائمه للاثار المصريه ثم مديرا لها. اما منصبه الحالي فهو مدير الاداره المركزيه للوجه القبلي . حصل على ليسانس اثار في ١٩٩٢ من جامعة القاهره، وحصل على دبلومة اثار ماقبل التاريخ في ٢٠٠٥ من جامعة القاهره. اشرف على مدرسة حفائر الهرم في ٢٠١٢ كما اشرف على عدد من مدارس الحفائر بالمطريه وعين شمس فيما بين عامي ٢٠١٢ و ٢٠١٣. عمل مشرفا بمشروع تخفيض منسوب المياه الجوفيه بالبر الغربي بالاقصر كما عمل مشرفا على مشروع ترميم معبد قصر قارون بالفيوم University of California, Berkeley Project Head
Carol Redmount is an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Near Eastern Studies Department at UC Berkeley. She’s an archaeologist and ceramicist with extensive field experience not only in Egypt but also in Jordan, Cyprus, Tunisia and the USA. With a background in Egyptology, Syro-Palestinian Archaeology, Anthropology and Religious and Biblical Studies, her research interests are strongly cross-cultural and interdisciplinary. She has been the director of the UC Berkeley el-Hibeh Project since 2001 and has previously directed excavations at Tell Muqdam in the Delta. Other than her fieldwork, her research currently focuses on ancient Egyptian urbanism and the effects of cultural heritage destruction. كارول ردمونت استاذ مساعد ورئيس قسم دراسات الشرق الادنى بجامعة بركلي بكالفورنيا. متخصصه في دراسة الفخار والحفائر ولها خبره واسعه في بلاد متعدده منها مصر والاردن وقبرص وتونس والولايات المتحده. لها اهتمامات بحثية قويه في عدة تخصصات منها علم المصريات، علم الآثار السوري-الفلسطيني، الأنثروبولوجيا والدراسات الدينية. منذ ٢٠٠١ تدير حفائر في موقع الحيبه ببني سويف كما عملت سابقا في تل المقدم في الدلتا. غير ذلك لها دراسات في العمرانية المصرية القديمة، كما انها مهتمه بالحفاظ علي التراث الثقافي. |

 Nora Shalaby completed her PhD in 2016 at the Freie Universität Berlin on a lithic assemblage from the site of Wadi Maghara. Previously she worked as a Senior Project Assistant in the Egyptian Museum Database and Registrar Training Project. She has excavated in several sites in Egypt including Luxor, Tell el-Daba and Islamic Cairo. Recently she worked at Amara West in Sudan studying the site’s lithic assemblage.نورا شلبي حصلت على الدكتوراه فى عام ٢٠١٦ فى الجامعه الحرة ببرلين عن مجموعة من ادوات الظران من موقع وادى مغاره، سابقا كانت تعمل مساعدا فى مشروع التوثيق وادخال البيانات بالمتحف المصرى. لديها خبرات بأعمال الحفائر فى الأقصر وتل الضبعة والقاهرة الاسلامية. عملت أيضا فى موقع عمارة غرب بالسودان. |

 Jessica Kaiser is a bioarchaeologist, field archaeologist and surveyor with extensive field experience in Egypt and elsewhere, including Luxor, Giza, el-Hibeh, California and Scandinavia. Jessica has a masters in osteology from her native Sweden and a PhD in Egyptian archaeology from UC Berkeley.جيسيكا كايزر متخصصة فى علم الاثار الحيوية ( العظام ) والحفائر والمساحة ، عملت بحفائر داخل مصر فى مواقع الأقصر والجيزة والحيبه بالاضافة الى حافائر خارج مصر بكاليفورنيا بالولايات المتحدة الامريكية واسكندنافيا بأوروبا ، حصلت على الماجستير فى دراسة البقايا الآدمية من موطنها السويد وموضوع الدكتوراه فى جامعة بيركلي عن مقابر العصر المتأخر بالجيزة. |

 Egyptologist of the Project: Mohammed Abul -Yazid is a Senior Inspector and Archaeologist, Ministry of Antiquities – Sohag Antiquities Office since July 2000. He completed his MA from Ain Shams University in 2013 about the Slaughterhouse at the Temple of Seti I, Abydos. He is currently studying for his PhD at Tübingen University about (The tomb of Psenosiris, the Mayor of Athribis). He has extensive excavation experience at north Abydos, west of Sohag and in Luxor. He was a resident archaeologist at the rescue excavations in the Karnak and Luxor temples (2005 -2007) and head of the Egyptian side of the joint Egyptian – German mission at Athribis (2015-16). محمد ابو اليزيد يعمل كمفتش اثار بسوهاج ، قام بحفائر بابيدوس والأقصر واتريبس . موضوع الماجستير عن قاعات مذبح معبد سيتى الاول بابيدوس ، وحاليا يدرس الدكتوراه فى جامعة توبنجن بالمانيا عن مقبرة باسن أوزير باتريبس. |
 Zeinab Hashish is the director of Human and Faunal Remains at the Ministry of Antiquities. She is also a bioarchaeologist, Senior Inspector and is head of the Sorting Committee for Antiquities at the Buto Antiquities Office. Her PhD thesis examined the solar burial orientation at the cemeteries of Heit al Ghorab, Giza and Anubion, Saqqara.  Fiona Baker has been a professional archaeologist since 1988. She established a consulting and contracting practice in 1992 (Firat Archaeological Services) and has directed numerous commercial archaeological projects from inception to publication. She has worked throughout the Middle East notably at Giza on the Giza Plateau Mapping Project (1988 – 2005) where she introduced the single context recording system; in Ras al Khaimah, UAE recording fortifications and she has also directed the Pella Hinterland Tomb Project, Jordan mapping megalithic and Bronze Age tombs (1995-1998).  Hazim Salah is a Senior Inspector at Abydos and has directed excavations in Abydos, Giza and Luxor. He was trained at the ARCE field school, having specialized in archeological illustration. He was also a member of the Selection Committee for the Grand Egyptian Museum and a member of the Egyptian-German excavation project in Asyut.حازم صلاح مفتش اثار بابيدوس ، اشرف على العديد من الحفائر فى ابيدوس والجيزة والأقصر. تدرب فى مدرسة الحفائر التابعة لمركز البحوث الأمريكى ، متخصص فى الرسم الأثرى، عضو فى لجنة اختيار القطع الاثرية المخصصة للمتحف المصرى الكبير ، وعضو فى البعثة المصرية الألمانية بأسيوط. |
 Yasser Abdurazik is an Antiquities Inspector at Abydos and is currently completing his MA thesis on the Mahat chapel of Neb Hepet Ra in Abydos. He has been involved with several projects, including the Amenmesse Project in the Valley of the Kings, and the TT14 project in Dra’ Abou el-Naga. In addition, he has carried out test excavations in South Abydos and discovered the Mahat chapel found next to the Seti Temple and supervised the removal of the houses on top of the Qurna Necropolis.ياسر عبد الرازق مفتش اثار بابيدوس ، يكمل حاليا دراسة الماجستيرعن مقصورة الملك نب حبت رع منتوحتب الثاني فى ابيدوس. من أهم أنشطته الأثرية اكتشاف مقصورة محات والمشاركة في مشروع أمنمس الذي إكتشف المقبرة 63 بوادي الملوك, الإشراف علي إزالة البيوت أعلي جبانة القرنة. |
 Elizabeth Minor completed her PhD at UC Berkley in 2012 and currently has a postdoctoral position at Wellesley College. Previously she worked at the Hearst Museum and on digital archives from the Giza Archives Project, Museum of Fine Arts Boston. She has excavated in both Egypt and Sudan. إليزابيث ماينور حصلت على الدكتوراه بجامعة بيركلي بكاليفورنيا عام ٢٠١٢ ، تستكمل دراسة ما بعد الدكتوراه فى كلية ويلزلى، سابقا كانت تعمل فى متحف هيرست و عملت بمشروع رقمنة الارشيف بمتحف بوسطن ، شاركت فى حفائر بمصر والسودان. |
 Wael Ibrahim is currently head of the Preparation Area at the Conservation Centre of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM-CC). He completed his MA in 2015 entitled “The Management of Conservation, Restoration and Rehabilitation Projects at Archaeological Sites”. He is a specialist in the conservation of stone and mural paintings and has conservation experience in handling artifacts, packing and transportation of artifacts, collections management and painted objects.  Ahmed Tarek is a conservator at the Conservation Centre of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM-CC). He is especially interested in the conservation of organic artifacts, in particular papyrus and paper. In Japan, he studied the Japanese technique for paper conservation which he recently applied to the treatment of a 3.5 metre long papyrus from ancient Egypt. He has also finished his masters thesis on the evaluation of materials used in the conservation of organic material, in particular bone and ivory. In addition he took part in the restoration of coffins from the Tell Amarna excavations.احمد طارق أخصائي ترميم اثار عضوية بمركز الترميم بالمتحف المصري الكبير، متخصص فى ترميم الورق والبردي ، ذهب الى اليابان لدراسة التكنيك اليابانى لترميم الورق حيث تم تطبيقها فى ترميم بردية طولها ٣.٥٠ متر تعود للعصور الفرعونية . انتهى من دراسة الماجستير فى جامعة القاهرة كلية الاثار عن تقيم المواد المستخدمة فى ترميم المواد العضوية وخاصة العظم والعاج . شارك ترميم التوابيت المستخرجة من حفائر تل العمارنه. |
 Rachel Regelein is a recent graduate of UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Egyptian Archaeology. This fall she will continue her education at the University of Washington to pursue an M.A. in Museum Studies. She has worked on archaeological sites in the US and in Europe and is especially interested in digital archaeology. راشيل رجيلين حصلت علي البكالوريوس من جامعة بريكلي بكالفورنيا في علم المصريات، تكمل دراستها حاليا في مجال دراسات المتاحف بجامعة واشنطن، شاركت في العديد من الحفائر العلمية بالعديد من المواقع الاثرية في امريكا واوروبا وتهتم بالتسجيل الرقمي للاثار حاليا. |
 Ahmed Abdel-Kader is an antiquities inspector in Abydos. He participated in the inventory and documentation of the magazines of Abydos, in addition to creating a complete database of the contents of these magazines. He has also been a member in several missions excavating in Abydos, and has studied the pottery which was excavated from the Early Dynastic cemetery south of the Seti Temple.  Abdel Ghafour Motawe is a conservation specialist of the Antiquities of Sohag. He participated in several restoration projects at various archaeological sites in Sohag, Luxor, Cairo and Rashid. He has a strong academic and practical background in the field of restoration and conservation of cultural heritage. His Masters degree concentrated on evaluating the techniques of cleaning historical architectural facades with an application on the facades of the palace of Prince Youssef Kamal in Naga Hammadi. He is currently a PhD candidate and is researching the utilization of the plasma as a promising technique for conservation of porous archaeological materials, such as stones and wall paintings. Practically, he has considerable experience in leading conservation teams in a number of projects. Recently. he worked with the American Research Center in Luxor as a conservation supervisor and a trainer. عبد الغفور السيد مطاوع أخصائي ترميم أثار بسوهاج، شارك بالعديد من مشاريع الترميم بمختلف المواقع الأثرية بسوهاج، الأقصر، القاهرة، ورشيد. لدية خلفية عميقة بالنواحي الأكاديمية والعملية بمجال ترميم وصيانة ترثنا الثقافي، فعلى الجانب الأكاديمي فقد حصل على الماجستير فى تخصص تقييم تقنيات تنظيف الواجهات الأثرية مع التطبيق على واجهات قصر الأمير يوسف كمال بنجع حمادي. سجل للدكتوراة فى تقييم تقنية البلازما فى تنظيف اسطح المواد المسامية (أحجار وصور جدارية). وعن الجانب العملي فلدية خبرات لا بأس بها في قيادة فرق الترميم بمختلف المشاريع، فقدعمل مع مركز البحوث الأمريكي بالأقصر كمشرف ترميم ومدرب لزملائه من أخصائين الترميم. |

Amani Amer obtained her BA in 2012 from the Faculty of Archaeology at South Wadi University. She recently completed her MA in Egyptian Archaeology at Fayoum University where she focused on the study of the second tense in Middle Egyptian.  Kea Johnston is currently a PhD candidate at University of California Berkeley, where she is writing a dissertation on the practices of artists and scribes on coffins from the site of Akhmim. She received a BA in Computer Science from Brown in 2005, but participation in an excavation at Giza that same year reminded her that her first love was Ancient Egypt. After a career in Silicon Valley, she returned to school and received a Masters in Egyptian Art and Archaeology in 2016. |

Ayman Damarany is currently the photographer for the American Research Centre in Egypt based in Luxor, and a Senior Inspector at Abydos. He trained at the ARCE Field Schools in Luxor and Giza and has extensive excavation experience as a field director. Presently, he is studying part-time for an MA in physical anthropology at Cairo University. He has produced several publications and specializes in orthographic photography. In 2014 he discovered the Mahat Chapel of the King Neb Hebet Ra in Abydos. ايمن ضمراني مفتش آثار في ابيدوس ومصور وتلقى تدريبه على التصوير في مركز البحوث الامريكي بالاقصر. يحضر الماجستير في معهد البحوث والدراسات الافريقيه في جامعه القاهره. نشر مقالات عن الحفائر التي قام بها في ابيدوس. فى عام ٢٠١٤ اكتشف مقصورة محات للملك نب حبت رع بابيدوس
Lissette Jimenez is an archaeologist, art historian and museum professional who has worked in Egypt, Greece, Italy and the USA. She completed her PhD in Egyptian Art and Archaeology at UC Berkeley. Currently she is an Assistant Professor in Museum Studies at San Francisco State University. She is also the Director of the Abydos Archive Center Conservation Field School. Project Supporters
Hany Abou el-Azm is the Director of the Central Administration for Middle Egyptian Antiquities. Previously he worked as an inspector in Matareya and Mit Rahina, before becoming the Director of the Permanent Committee of Egyptian and Islamic Antiquities in 2008. Recently he obtained his masters degree from Cairo University about “The Nawamis of Sinai in the 4th millennium BC and a comparison with similar structures in Egypt”
هانى ابو العزم مدير الادارة المركزية لمصر الوسطى. حصل على درجة الماجستير بإمتياز فى الآثار المصرية من كلية الآثار جامعة القاهرة، وذلك عن رسالة بعنوان”النواميس فى سيناء خلال الألفية الرابعة قبل الميلاد ومقارنتها بمثيلاتها فى مصر- . دراسه أثرية. عمل كمفتش اثار في المطريه وميت راهينه وبعد ذلك كمدير اللجنه الدائمه للاثار المصريه والاسلاميه من ٢٠٠٨ الي ٢٠١٣ ومدير عام شئون المناطق للآثار المصرية والمشرف على اللجان الدائمة للآثار المصرية والأجنبيه من ٢٠١٣ الي ٢٠١٦
Ashraf Okasha is the Director of Sohag Antiquities. He is currently completing his MA at Cairo University. He is involved in a number of archaeological activities in both Sohag and Luxor, took part in the discovery of antiquities in Athribis west of Sohag, and has been a member in several foreign missions. He started off as an Inspector in Sohag and Qurna, then became Senior Inspector, followed by General Director of Security. He has published several articles.
أشرف عكاشه مدير آثار أبيدوس، يكمل حاليا دراسة الماجستير بجامعة القاهرة، له نشاط أثري كبير فيما بين سوهاج والأقصر، أسهم في عدة مشروعات حفائر، أهمها الكشف عن آثار أتريبس غرب سوهاج، كما رافق عدة بعثات أجنبية بالمنطقة وخارجها، عمل مفتشا للآثار بسوهاج، وبالقرنة في البر الغربي بالأقصر.عمل كبيرا لمفتشي آثار سوهاج، ثم مديرا لإدارة الامن. أسهم في نشر عدة مقالات.
Gamal Abdel-Nasser is the former General Director of Sohag Antiquities. He started his career as an inspector in Akhmim, then became Senior Inspector and finally Chief Inspector. He has taken part in several archaeological committees, the most important being the Inventory Committee of the Antiquities of Qurna. He has played an active role in most of the archaeological discoveries that have taken place in East Sohag, for instance, the discovery of the statue of Meret-Amun, parts of the statue of Rameses II and his temple, and a number of tombs in the cemeteries of Naga el-Mashayikh, el-Hawawshi and el-Salamouni. He has also published several articles.
جمال عبد الناصر مدير عام آثار سوهاج السابق، بدأ حياته الأثرية مفتشا بتفتيش أخميم، ثم كبيراً للمفتشين، ثم مديراً للتفتيش. انتقل بعدها لتولى منصب مدير آثار سواهاج، ثم مديراً عاماً. شارك في عدة لجان أثرية، اهمها لجنة جرد الآثار بالقرنه غرب الأقصر. له الفضل في معظم الإكتشافات الأثرية التي تمت في شرق سوهاج، على سبيل المثال الكشف عن تمثال مريت آمون وباقي أجزاء تماثيل ومعبد رمسيس الثاني، عدد من مقابر جبانات نجع المشايخ والحواويش والسلاموني. كما أن له عدة مقالات منشورة.
